July in 29Palms

We arrived on June 30 & our stuff did not come until July 7 so this is how we lived for a week...

the kids only had the few toys we brought in the car to play with, but they loved the wide open space

We celebrated the 4th of July by putting the kids in their festive clothes and going to Palm Springs to check it out and eat some Chipotle.

uncle Jayson was still in town so he posed for a few of his signature silly photos
After our things came we had boxes EVERYWHERE

So the kids ate their snacks while sitting on them and what better toy than an empty box!

We got the kids a small kiddie pool for our back yard and they definitely got our moneys worth out of it! 7am was the best time to let them go out there and swim because it wasn't too hot yet and there was no direct sun in the back until afternoon.

We played some playdough and Brinley is big enough {or at least she thinks so} to join in on the fun!

The kids played in the water some more...

We went to the splash pool with our neighbors...

We played outside and watched for Daddy to come home on his bike...

We wanted to go camping/biking/hiking at Big Bear Lake which is only about 1.5 hours from us. We packed up the car with all the stuff we needed for the weekend. We looked online to get a reservation for a campsite, but they were all full so I called the visitor center and the guy told me that 2 of the no reservation campgrounds would definitely have spots open. We left later than we planned because Josh had meetings that day that ran late. When we go to Big Bear we had to drive another 30 min to the campgrounds and they were ALL full! We were so disappointed! We wished we would have prepared differently so we could have just backpacked in somewhere, but we didn't. The kids had been so good for the whole drive, but they were getting grumpy and tired. We called some hotels in town and they were really expensive so we drove back home frustrated!

We spent a lot of time beating the heat at the officer's pool on base...

 Brinley LOVES the slide!
the kids never wanted to go home. it didn't matter how hot it was or how long we had been there.

We played in the sprinklers...
one morning Hayden went outside and turned on the hose. I thought he turned it up too high so I said turn it down a little so it's not spraying so big. His response was "I like it when it's big, it makes me happy!" I think his face definitely shows that!

Snuggling at nap time...

 Playing doctor with daddy...
